embarrassing thoughts while thumbing through the recently released Essential Dazzler collection

• I own a LOT of these comics.

• I believe I purchased a copy of Dazzler’s first appearance (a legitimately collectible Claremont/Byrne issue of the Dark Phoenix saga) from a friend for 20 dollars and a burrito.

• I own two copies of a LOT of these comics.

• A ranking of Dazzler artists is as follows…

• Once, during a local comic shop’s seasonal sale, I consulted a handwritten checklist while browsing the 25¢ bin in order to prevent further duplicate purchases.

• Man, all Dazzler wants is to be taken seriously as a singer and performer, not to be sucked into all these super-heroics. (I was, of course, momentarily captivated by the narrative)

• Even I do not believe that Dazzler can use her light abilities to generate holograms. That is a stretch.

• Dazzler’s Dad is a jerk. Just let her follow her dreams. Jerk. (again, the narrative captivates)

• There was once a time, at the beginning of all this, when I appreciated Dazzler ironically.
